Driver Profile Page
Modified By Ed Frazier on 12/24/2008 9:05:40 AM)

The Driver Profile page has been brought online. All RSCS drivers are able to create their own profile and edit it whenever they choose. You will also be able to delete your profile if you choose. First though, you will have to Register on the website. Then, I will verify each registration to determine if it is from an RSCS driver.

Those registrations (Usernames) deemed to belong to authentic RSCS drivers will be assigned a "Security Role" called RSCS Driver (very clever name)

Once this Security Role has been assigned, the next time that member logs into the site, there will be a new Panel on the Drivers page that includes some instructions and a link to Create a Driver Profile. Each Profile is linked to a unique Username and only that Username (member) will have permission to Edit or Delete the associated Profile.

The only "mandatory" fields when creating a profile are First Name, Last Name and Car Number. All the rest can be left blank, including the option to upload pictures. You can always come back and add additional information or edit existing information at a later date

If this all sounds confusing, it's really not that bad. Once you have the profile created, you're pretty much set. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know and I'll help you figure it all out.

Adding Photos to Driver Profile
Modified By Ed Frazier on 12/24/2008 9:09:34 AM)

Two photos can be included with the profile.

  1. Click the Browse button on the Profile creation page
  2.  Select an image from your local PC. (the photo must be no larger than 2MB in size)
  3. After you have selected a file, click the Upload link to the right of the Browse button
  4. The file will be copied to the server hosting this website and a thumbnail of the uploaded photo will appear
  5. There is a Delete link next to the thumbnail if you choose to delete the file from this server
  6. There is a Caption field underneath the thumbnail that appears when the file is uploaded.
That caption is not currently displayed, but is available for future use.
  7. Repeat the process for a second photo if desired.

That's all there is to it!

Re: Driver Profile Page

The Driver Profile page has been modified slightly from the original description above. Here is the original wording followed by the changes.

The ability to CREATE profiles by individual drivers has been removed. This was done because BASIC profile information for ALL current RSCS drivers has already been entered by site administration. If drivers were able to create their own profile, we would end up with duplicate records in the database.

The "new panel" described above has been eliminated. The sole purpose for that was to enable drivers a means of CREATING their profile record. Since all drivers now have the basic information already entered, there was no longer a need for the panel. To edit your profile, just click the Edit Link immediately below your name in the list. Only the owner of the record (the driver) will see the Edit Link.

The rest of the original description is unchanged. Notice that you do have the ability to DELETE your profile altogether. If you decide to do that, please remember that this is the only list on the website of active RSCS drivers. Rather than delete the record entirely, it would be better if you leave the minimum information (First Name, Last Name & Car #), and delete anything else you don't want to make public. This would keep the list complete for anyone wanting to know all the driver names and car numbers.
